The Gevrey-Chambertin “les Seuvrées” is again from older vines (sixty to sixty-five years of age) and they seem to have navigated the heat of the summer of 2018 better than those in le Reniard. The wine offers up a very refined nose, wafting from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, a fine base of soil, gamebird, woodsmoke and a gentle topnote of mustard seed. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully structured, with suave, seamless tannins, a lovely core of fruit fine soil signature and a long, fine-grained and bouncy finish. This is good juice. (Drink between 2025-2055)
