Description

Château Beauséjour is a Bordeaux wine producer located in Montagne-Saint-Émilion producing Right Bank Bordeaux blends. The top wine from the estate is the Château Beauséjour ‘1901’, produced from equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc from vines that are on average 115 years old. Château Beauséjour has belonged to the Duffau-Lagarrosse family since 1847. The estate itself was constructed in 1851 and covers 15 hectares (37 acres) of land, with 7ha (17 acres) planted to vine. Here, deep, chalky-clay soils are limestone-rich and are well-suited to the 70-percent Merlot and 30-percent Cabernet Franc that is planted. The vines have an average age of 55 with the oldest vines on the estate planted in 1901. Plots are situated on high south- and southwest-facing hillsides. Château Beauséjour, the flagship wine, is a blend of approximately 80-percent Merlot and 20-percent Cabernet Franc depending on the vintage. The estate’s second wine is labeled Le Charme de Beauséjour and is aged 10 to 12 months in twice-used barrels.
