The Aragones (native Alentejo varietal, directly related to Tempranillo) provide the backbone of the wine, its lively dark fruity flavors and balanced texture, about 70% here. The Castelao, also well adapted to this southern region, adds character, acidity and tannin with a red currant flavor. The Syrah’s small portion is mainly used as the seasoning, adding a light spice note, for an appealing mid-palate and modern touch. Pair with stews, steak, lamb, or really any hearty, winter meal.
