This wine is a fantastic introduction to modern Californian pinot noir. The grapes come from the highly-rated, cold climate Sta Rita Hills region which gives superb freshness and lifted aromatics. On the nose the wine is both spicy and floral, this wine shows lovely black cherry fruit, a natural florality with dried herbs and bright red fruits. On the palate, the wine is restrained (not super ripe) and well structured with notes of tart cherries, raspberries, undertones of warm spices and dried violets with lingering hints of salinity around the finish.
