F.X. Pichler was considered perhaps the greatest winemaker in Austria, passing his immense talents to son Lucas who has helmed the estate for two decades. The fact that a single vineyard bottling from such an esteemed producer can be enjoyed at this price point speaks to the striking value found in Austrian wine. A simply stunning dry Riesling from the Burgstall that leads with a complex nose of violets, pears, and flint. Medium bodied with a riveting palate of stone and supple orchard fruit leading to a crisp, clean finish. Pichler keeps things very traditional in the cellar and utilizes large, neutral oak barrels to mature their wines.
